Chiclets was a brand of candy-coated chewing gum manufactured by Mondel?z International. The Chiclets name is derived from the Spanish word chicle which is the name for chewing gum. Introduced in 1900 by the American Chicle Company, a company founded by Thomas Adams. The original flavor was peppermint, and assorted fruit flavors are still available in Algeria, Colombia, Argentina, Egypt, Canada, India, Iraq, Lebanon, Mexico, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Dominican Republic, United Kingdom, Portugal, and parts of the Americas.
Various people have been credited with inventing Chiclets including the brothers Robert and Frank Fleer, and Louis Mahle.
As of 2016, the Chiclets gum brand has been discontinued. The website www.chiclets.com reroutes to the Mondel?z International website, but it is not listed on the "product family" section of the site.
